Aloha %ClientName%: %ClientID% Please forgive the long silence. Healing takes time. There has been considerable progress in the Lahaina recovery. The majority of the cleanup has been completed. The priority has always been to clear the residential lots first so people could start rebuilding their homes. 1,183 residential lots have been cleared of ashen debris with only 216 left to do. As of the first week of June, the Army Corps of Engineers has cleared 39 out of 159 commercial lots. The Sargent's site has been cleared as you can see in the photos below. The first building permits are finally being issued for residential properties. In April/24 Governor Green announced he intends to take unilateral action to restore the Moku'ula area and return it to the people of Lahaina. Moku'ula is a native Hawaiian historic & cultural landmark that was buried more than a century ago. The land was considered sacred and was the site of King Kamehameha III's Royal Palace.

Lahaina Banyan Tree as of June 8/24 - sadly 1/3rd of the tree died and had to be cut away You can watch an excellent drone video of the entire burn area taken in June 2024 here. We are excited to share new creations celebrating Maui and our Banyan Tree... The creator of Sunset After the Storm has created a new work... The Patriarch. "The Patriarch - the famous Banyan Tree - is the Heart of Lahaina. It was this heart that survived the devastating fire which destroyed the beautiful Lahainatown. This painting is about the time in our lives when things seem irretrievably lost, when we discover in our darkest hour that the guiding power we still have is that of Love of Life, Hope, & Faith."
The Patriarch: original oil on canvas 32x48 inches recently sold for $32,000 unframed.
Sunset After the Storm: Limited Edition Giclee 26x36 inches. Unframed. $3,600 and $1,500. Both Volkov paintings above are available as a limited number of signed & numbered artist-hand-embellished giclees for $3600 or as a Limited Edition giclee for $1500 unframed. Framing quotes are available upon request. More Volkov art. Gabriel was born into a family of artists and grew up surfing in Laguna Beach. After earning a fine art degree and trying various styles, it was the gold leaf technique he learned from his mother that captured his focus. Gabriel paints with rich, earthen colors on top of gold and silver leaf, which creates a warm, luminous antique effect. Gabriel moved to Maui in 2005. As a surfer, his fascination with ocean waves shines through in his subject matter. All of his works are originals.
